This paper presets the preliminary phase of the project, and its data, with an emphasis on the qualitative analysis performed in the first phases. The purpose of the qualitative research is to explore perceptions and knowledge about Internet use and social media use among students. Data were collected by means of focus groups conducted with teachers involved in the project (N = 50). The textual material obtained was analyzed by means of Grounded Theory Methodology (GTM). The results of the qualitative study return to the researcher material useful not only to calibrate targeted prevention and intervention programs, but also to gain more knowledge with respect to the use of new media by younger people.
