E-learning is considered a modern educational modality opposite to the traditional one and its way of teaching. But the most modern technology of distance learning has its roots in the ancient world. Plato and Quintilian, among others, described the preoccupation and principles of new way of transmission of knowledge through new modalities and technologies. In addition telematic universities used myth to connect themselves to classic tradition in their logos and naming as in the case of Pegaso, the most famous Italian telematic university. Finally the ancient cultures are starting to be promoted and taught by Moocs (Massive open online courses) and e-learning.
