This research falls within the field of studies on heritage education and on the educational potential offered by digital technologies in teaching and learning processes. In this context, cultural heritage is understood not only as a collection of material assets, but also as a didactic tool. The study explores the ways in which the school can become a place for the enhancement of historical-educational heritage, with a view to fostering participation and active citizenship. In particular, it aims to analyse the virtual school museum as a teaching tool and an innovative learning environment capable of combining memory, knowledge, and technology. The goal is to investigate whether and to what extent the digitalization of school heritage can support meaningful learning, promote transversal skills, and increase student motivation. To this end, the thesis is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical in nature, defines the conceptual and pedagogical framework of reference, examining the relationship between cultural heritage, museum, and school, and outlining the educational opportunities offered by digital tools. The second part presents the action research conducted within a school context through a quasiexperimental design, which includes the implementation of a teaching programme focused on the use of the virtual school museum with primary school children. Data analysis, based on knowledge tests, assessment rubrics, observational checklists, and metacognitive tools, showed an overall improvement in the experimental group in terms of disciplinary knowledge as well as transversal skills, along with an increase in motivation levels. In this regard, the results indicate that the school museum fosters collaborative learning processes, analytical and communication skills, and greater awareness of the value of heritage as a common good. Despite limitations related to the small sample size and the duration of the intervention, the research appears to confirm the pedagogical 8 relevance of the digital school museum as a hybrid learning environment capable of integrating experience, reflection, and technology. The evidence collected also suggests the need to develop curricular pathways that enhance school memory from an educational perspective and promote the conscious use of digital tools as instruments of cultural mediation. Thus, the research offers an interpretation of the virtual school museum as an educational space for innovation and active citizenship, capable of restoring to the school its role as a place for the construction and sharing of knowledge, where tradition meets innovation and memory is transformed into a formative project
