In Brazilian Candomblé, pollution corresponds to a negative side of spirituality that is conceived as part of a constitutive reality of the world, which cannot be completely eliminated, but only mitigated. The notions of purity and pollution are conceived in terms of effective interactions between humans and non-humans, and the negative spirituality can be also analysed from a cosmological point of view, considering the native notion of destiny. The human ritual work, by promoting the activation of non-human agents, inserts itself into the movement of life and seeks its relative control.

Abstract
In Brazilian Candomblé, pollution corresponds to a negative side of spirituality that is conceived as part of a constitutive reality of the world, which cannot be completely eliminated, but only mitigated. The notions of purity and pollution are conceived in terms of effective interactions between humans and non-humans, and the negative spirituality can be also analysed from a cosmological point of view, considering the native notion of destiny. The human ritual work, by promoting the activation of non-human agents, inserts itself into the movement of life and seeks its relative control.File in questo prodotto:
