Recent studies and international policy agendas increasingly focus on waste geographies and the balance of sustainability goals in energy policies, revealing problems especially in the implementation at local scale. Although the use of residual biomass from agricultural and livestock waste for energy production currently represents one of the most promising alternative sources for energy production and the achievement of sustainable development goals, including waste reduction, polluting emissions, conservation of valuable assets, landscapes and biodiversity, it is poorly promoted and developed due to various limitations. This research aims to develop a sustainable model for energy production from agricultural waste with the appropriate technology, still little considered but compatible with local resources, values and constraints. Specific local characteristics and potentialities are considered, using a qualitative-quantitative methodology applied in an area of particular interest in the Apulia region.
