We report resonant and nonresonant Raman spectra in PbI2 single crystals. From the polarization nonresonant spectra we obtain the phonon symmetries in the 4 H polytype structure. Resonance effects were studied both by the temperature broadening of the exciton peak and by varying laser length in the range (4965÷6328) Å.
