This essay presents some critical notes on conf., 13, 2, 2 (from Dicant quid te promeruerunt to universa bona valde [Sir 39, 21; Gn 1, 31]). The first part is a comparison of five translations (Tréhorel-Bouissou Carena Vitali Chiarini Hammond), in order to highlight the most significant differences and introduce the main questions posed by the Latin text. The second part is an in-depth analysis of the two main textual features: the numerous repetitions of the verb promereo (conf., 13, 2, 2-13, 3, 4) and the double construction of the verb pendo (inde penderent; penderent in tuo Verbo).

Questo saggio propone alcune note critiche su conf., 13, 2, 2 (da Dicant quid te promeruerunt fino ad universa bona valde [Sir 39, 21; Gn 1, 31]). La prima parte è un confronto di cinque traduzioni (Tréhorel-Bouissou Carena Vitali Chiarini Hammond), al fine di evidenziare le differenze più significative e introdurre le principali questioni poste dal testo latino. La seconda parte è un’analisi approfondita di due aspetti principali del testo: le numerose riprese del verbo promereo (conf., 13, 2, 2-13, 3, 4) e la duplice costruzione del verbo pendo (inde penderent; penderent in tuo Verbo).
