Cicerone e la teatralizzazione del sacro

This contribution aims to highlight the theatrical components used by Cice ro in the oratory. He reserved great space for the management of emotions, to move or to excite the general minds. In this perspective, also the sacral mod ules, already used by the theater, performed this function, as demonstrated, ex. gr., from the deprecatio to Jupiter Stator, in the peroratio of the first Cat ilinaria. The solemnity of the prayer and its scenic expressiveness, based on evocative words and ritual gestures, in oratory as in a theatrical performance, became a vector of emotion to move the audience.
