Abstract

The last generation of the Italian theatre during the years 2000-2010 presents a multifarious set of scenic forms and solutions linked through the same practices and protocols, both with and without interruption to the past; therefore, it has been considered as a sort of “third avant-garde”. Labeled as “iperscene”, the vast majority of those groups promotes a theatre of the vision where performance, visual arts and actorial work are joined together bringing about an original mix of languages and aesthetics. By adopting a historical and critical perspective, this article gives an overview of the new Italian scene and its phenomenology.
