In this paper, we investigate the relationship between socioeconomic levels and cause-specific mortality. To gain such insight, we offer a novel framework based on a Bayesian hierarchical model for a Dirichlet distribution able to handle competing risks among causes. As a consequence, we are able to investigate the impact of improvements in cause-specific mortality by socioeconomic circumstances that might shed light on untracked economic and demographic dynamics
