The general objective of this study is to search for the meaning attributed to the concept of spirituality by twenty teachers, from four different public primary schools. The specific objective is to investigate how and if the teachers interviewed apply the spiritual dimension to their professional field. The qualitative research method has been used, phenomenological with regard to the objective to be achieved, and following the model of the grounded theory in the data coding. The results of this research confirmed the hypothesis, formulated on what emerged from the scientific literature, of an existing confusion between the concepts of spirituality and religion. The hypothesis of teachers’ inability to decline spirituality in a prag- matic way (even if often confused with religion) in the school context, has been, instead, confuted.
