In a double-blind, between-patient study, the effectiveness of ketotifen (an anti-anaphylactic and anti-histaminic drug) and clemastine (a pure anti-histaminic drug) in inhibiting nasal symptoms after a nasal provocation test (NPT) was evaluated in 20 seasonal or perennial rhinitics. After a NPT without premedication, ketotifen and clemastine were administered orally at 2 x 1 mg for 3 days. On the 4th day, 2 hours after ingestion of 2 mg of ketotifen or clemastine, the NPT was repeated. The decrease in total nasal score (sneezing, blockage, running and itching) after ketotifen was significantly higher than after clemastine (P < 0.05). The changes in the resistance to airflow in the nasal cavities were not significant in either group.

Abstract
The changes in the resistance to airflow in the nasal cavities were not significant in either group.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
