The aim of this article is to give an insight on the impact that hegemonic theories and traditional leadership models have had in the creation and reproduction of certain labor relationships and methods. In a first stage such theories and models are categorized, suggesting that advances in knowledge are not different from each other with respect to the way in which work is conceived. The second stage offers an alternative interpretation about leadership that is directed at giving priority to the relationships between followers and leaders. Finally, the change in Chilean organizational structures is discussed, as well as the appropriateness of using a relational approach in order to facilitate the incorporation and appropriation of followers to the outcomes of the company.
