Good Practices Regarding Sustainability in the Universities: the Cases of University of Foggia and Cracow University of Economics.

The concept of sustainability is also being developed in public institutions and universities. The academic community can play a key role in spreading environmental awareness within the administration, teaching, scientific research. Among the efforts to reduce environmental and social impacts resulting from activities carried out by the universities, the implementation of environmental management systems, adoption of social responsibility or undertaking specific activities can help make the University more sustainable. The aims of this study is to compare improvements in resource consumption: University of Foggia, Italy, and Cracow University of Economics, Poland. The comparison includes such issues as resources use, management policies and organizational efforts, activities engaging academic communities and external stakeholders within areas impacting overall sustainability. In addition, some up-to-dates outcomes of sustainability oriented activities are shown.
