The importance of improving accessibility to tourism services and understanding the needs of disabled people is nowadays largely recognized in the literature. In this framework, the present paper tests the suitability of a participatory approach involving stakeholders in the definition of a trademark specification for dealing with a complex issue such as disabled tourists’ accessibility to protected areas. The study conducted with stakeholders from the province of Foggia - in the southeast of Italy - contributes to enrich the literature on the strategies to improve tourism accessibility to protected areas.
