This paper aims at studying the areas devoted to trades of Alba Fucens in the context of the historical, urban and monumental development of the Latin colony. The attention focuses in particular on the tabernae of late Republican period, which were built according to modular patterns in relation with the central axes of the road network (“via del Milario” and “via dei Pilastri”), next to the public buildings facing the Forum. As the recent excavations have shown, these underwent a series of structural and functional transformations trough time, sometimes related to destructive events and subsequent reconstructions. We will focus on three main issues: a critical review of the old data; the discussion of the evidence from the new archaeological research, in particular that of the University of Foggia in the south-eastern area of the Forum; the architectural study of the taberna III located along the Forum, which has allowed us to produce a graphic reconstruction.
