Abstract

The paper offers the review of the critical studies on the ps.cyprianic 'De aleatoribus'. Under the impulse of Harnck's edition (1888) a large debate arose among scholars. Harnack suggested to ascribe the anonymous work to the pope Victor I and considered it the first Christian text in Latin language. Durin the following years many scholars took an interest in 'De aleatoribus' and put forward new theories on its author, origin and date in opposition to Harnsck's argument.
