This paper aims at analysing the problems of the Dublin system through the law and literature approach consisting of two parts. The former reflects on the nexus between the limits on the freedom of movement for beneficiaries of international protection in the European Union and the Dublin Regulation. In so doing, it illustrates some of the main deficiencies of the Dublin rules. The second part examines and critically reflects on the current proposals tabled by the European institutions and it additionally outlines different future prospects.
