From the initial idea of making a survey of herbs - roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits - and other elements - animal substances, charcoal, stones, water, words, lunar and solar cycles, tidal cycles, days of the week, times of day, cardinal points, etc. (medicines widely used in the daily lives of those communities), we realised the need to make not only this knowledge visible, but also the people who circulate it. These are not just therapists who are socially recognised as such, but many others who are recognised in this book as ‘therapeutic practitioners’.
