This article examines the relationship between the soul and God in Meister Eckhart’s thought, focusing on knowledge and vision as spaces of union. Through the imago Dei, Eckhart explores how the soul can transcend creaturely determinations to achieve a direct vision of the divine. Adapting concepts from natural philosophy and scholastic theology, he proposes that knowledge requires the elimination of the medium, allowing subject and object, seeing and being seen, to unify as one reality in act. The Son, as species visibilis, serves as the medium enabling this union, mirrored in the Trinity and the human relationship with God. Eckhart’s perspective transcends philosophy and mysticism, redefining knowledge as a transformative experience where the soul encounters the divine within its own essence.
