This chapter describes the importance of applying the CF as an environmental sustainability indicator to enhance the performance of the agri-food supply chain. By describing the main international standards and guidelines, and by presenting the main findings from two case studies conducted in Italy, the chapter aims to highlight the advantages for the entire agri-food sector and to provide a useful tool for supporting the climate change mitigation strategies requested at the global level.
