The present chapter examines community trust, considered as the positive expectations of community members towards their local community, with local community being defined as the place where people live and interact. Specifically, this contribution examines the crisis in participation and how community trust is the basic resource for community development and social empowerment of specific places; how it contrasts the crises of participation and social togetherness. This aim was pursued through the description of an action research project strengthening the building of community trust through multifaceted interaction among people, their place of belonging and their social attitudes.
