This paper aims to propose new identifications for some settlements depicted in the Iter de Londinio in Terram Sanctam by Matthew Paris, traditionally considered to be placed incorrectly by the copyist or by the same author. In this way, a central role of medieval Apulia in the historical and ideological project of the Chronica majora, one of the great historiographical texts of the mid-thirteenth century, emerges most clearly.

Abstract
This paper aims to propose new identifications for some settlements depicted in the Iter de Londinio in Terram Sanctam by Matthew Paris, traditionally considered to be placed incorrectly by the copyist or by the same author. In this way, a central role of medieval Apulia in the historical and ideological project of the Chronica majora, one of the great historiographical texts of the mid-thirteenth century, emerges most clearly.File in questo prodotto:
