Abstract: This paper focuses on the role of music in Greek literary culture: intended as a synthesis of words, melody and dance, it was very important for the Greeks and played a high educational function thanks to its capacity to stimulate the listeners with hearing and visual emotions, aroused by verbal language and gestures.
