In the «Magasin encyclopédique» of 1799 the young Boissonade published an article announcing a French translation of Aristainetos. The article was a sort of praefatio including a description of the Vindobonensis manuscript and remarking the relationship with the diplomat Bast, who was attending to a new edition of the Greek author. The aim of this paper is to investigate the French translations - some of them criticised by Boissonade, who never edited his translation ¬ as well as the interest of European scholarship for this text (Bast, Polyzois Kontos, Boissonade) between the end of XVIIIth century and Boissonade's edition (1822).

Abstract
In the «Magasin encyclopédique» of 1799 the young Boissonade published an article announcing a French translation of Aristainetos. The article was a sort of praefatio including a description of the Vindobonensis manuscript and remarking the relationship with the diplomat Bast, who was attending to a new edition of the Greek author. The aim of this paper is to investigate the French translations - some of them criticised by Boissonade, who never edited his translation ¬ as well as the interest of European scholarship for this text (Bast, Polyzois Kontos, Boissonade) between the end of XVIIIth century and Boissonade's edition (1822).File in questo prodotto:
