Close monitoring of the skills required by companies within the agri-food sector helps avoid mismatches occuring between the demand and supply of such skills. The loss of human capital and the social cost arising from errors in planning the supply of professional skills required by the market are very high. This paper studies the labor market and the employment needs of agri-food companies operating in Capitanata ( an area located in Southern Italy). For each chain of the agri-food sector we also considered the prospects for employment growth and demand for new professionals of medium-high level.
