Optical gain for the emission of the isoelectronic trap oxygen in ZnTe: O at room temperature is reported and discussed in terms of a theoretical model on laser action in vibronic materials. The gain spectrum is found to be proportional to the spontaneous emission and covers a broad spectral range in the visible red.

Abstract
